Top Recruitment Companies in Kenya (2026): How to Compare and Shortlist
An employer's guide to recruitment companies in Kenya: the types of firm you will come across, seven names that appear on most 2026 shortlists, how to check a licence with the National Employment Authority, and the questions to ask before you sign anything.
Disclosure: this guide is published by Lynn HR Solutions, a recruitment company in Kenya, and we include ourselves in the shortlist. Every other firm is described using what it says about itself on its own website, linked so you can check. We have not ranked competitors against each other, and we have not been paid to include anyone.
Quick answer: the top recruitment companies in Kenya
There is no official ranking of recruitment companies in Kenya. Published "top 10" lists mostly repeat the same established names: Corporate Staffing Services, Summit Recruitment & Search, Flexi Personnel, Manpower Services Group, Career Options Africa and Q-Sourcing Servtec appear again and again. Alongside them sit smaller firms, including Lynn HR, that offer a more hands-on service.
The best choice depends less on the list and more on three things: the type of hire (senior, volume or contract), whether the firm is accredited by the National Employment Authority, and whether it will put its fees, timelines and replacement terms in writing. The rest of this guide shows you how to check each one.
Types of recruitment companies in Kenya
"Recruitment company" covers several different businesses. Knowing which kind you need narrows the shortlist before you make a single call.
Generalist recruitment agencies
These firms fill permanent roles from junior to middle management across many sectors. They write or refine the job description, advertise, search their database, screen and test candidates, and bring you a shortlist to interview. Most small and medium employers start here.
Executive search firms
Executive search is a research-led process for senior appointments: general managers, finance heads, country directors and board roles. The firm maps the market and approaches people who are not job hunting, usually on a retained fee. Our executive search firm guide explains how it differs from ordinary recruitment.
Staffing and outsourcing companies
Staffing firms provide workers on contract, temporary or casual terms. In an outsourced model the staffing company may employ the worker and handle payroll and statutory deductions, while the worker does the job at your premises. See how staff outsourcing in Kenya and casual worker supply work in practice.
Recruitment process outsourcing (RPO)
With RPO, a recruitment firm runs all or part of your hiring process on an ongoing basis, often for a growing company with many roles to fill. It suits employers who want a consistent process without building an in-house recruitment team. Read more on our RPO service.
Overseas recruitment agencies
Some agencies recruit Kenyan workers for employers abroad, especially in the Gulf. This is a separate line of business with its own NEA requirements, including a security bond. If you are a Kenyan employer hiring locally, you can usually ignore this category.
Job boards
Sites such as BrighterMonday, MyJobMag and Fuzu are job platforms, not recruitment agencies. They give you applicants, but the screening and interviewing are up to you.
Recruitment companies in Kenya to shortlist in 2026
The firms below are among the recruitment companies in Kenya that come up most often on 2026 lists and in employer conversations. We list ourselves first because this is our guide; the others follow in no particular order. Before you engage any of them, check its accreditation using the steps in the next section.
Lynn HR Solutions
This is our firm, so read this entry with that in mind. Lynn HR is a Nairobi HR and recruitment consultancy founded by Lynn Wanjiru and based at The Mirage, Tower 2, Westlands. We recruit for employers: permanent hires from entry level to management, executive search for senior roles, headhunting, and contract and temporary staffing. Because we also run payroll and HR compliance, a new hire can start on a compliant contract and be added to payroll correctly. We work for the employer, not as a job-placement service for candidates.
Corporate Staffing Services
One of the most visible names in Kenyan recruitment and the firm that appears on almost every published list. On its website it describes itself as an IHRM-licensed HR and recruitment firm and a NITA-accredited training provider, and it says it has more than 15 years of experience and has worked with over 9,000 employers. Alongside recruitment it offers HR consultancy, payroll, corporate training and career services, and it publishes vacancies daily.
Summit Recruitment & Search
Summit positions itself as an African executive search and recruitment firm headquartered in Kenya. Its website says it is trusted by more than 2,000 employers and holds a candidate database of over 500,000 people, and it organises its consultants by business sector. It is a common choice for senior and regional appointments.
Flexi Personnel
Flexi Personnel describes itself as an HR and workforce solutions partner in Africa, helping organisations build and scale teams. It is frequently listed for staffing and outsourcing as well as recruitment, and it runs its own job portal for candidates.
Manpower Services Group
Manpower Services says it has been recruiting for employers since 1990, from chief executives to junior roles, and that it specialises in executive selection, training and recruitment across Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. Its long track record is the reason it appears on most lists.
Career Options Africa Group
Career Options Africa describes itself as a specialist in HR, recruitment, outsourcing, payroll and immigration support across nine African countries, with locally registered offices. It is worth a look if you are hiring in several East African markets at once or need employer-of-record support.
Q-Sourcing Servtec
Q-Sourcing describes its Kenyan business as ISO-certified, with more than a decade in the Kenyan market. It covers temporary, contract and permanent recruitment and executive hiring across sectors such as IT, construction, manufacturing, retail, finance, hospitality and healthcare.
Here is the same shortlist side by side. Each "focus" is a summary of what the firm says about itself.
| Firm | Based | Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Lynn HR Solutions | The Mirage, Westlands, Nairobi | Recruitment for employers, executive search, headhunting, contract and temporary staffing, casual workers, payroll and HR compliance |
| Corporate Staffing Services | Mayfair Suites, Westlands, Nairobi | Recruitment, executive search, HR consultancy, payroll, training and a large public job board |
| Summit Recruitment & Search | Blixen Court, Karen Road, Nairobi | Executive search and recruitment across Africa |
| Flexi Personnel | Kenya | HR and workforce solutions, staffing and outsourcing across Kenya and Africa |
| Manpower Services Group | Kenya | Recruitment, executive selection and training in Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania |
| Career Options Africa Group | Ngong Road, Nairobi | Recruitment, outsourcing, payroll, employer of record and immigration support |
| Q-Sourcing Servtec | Kenya | Permanent, temporary and executive recruitment and staffing consultancy |
Other firms that appear on published lists include Sheer Logic Management Consultants, Frank Management Consultants, Janta Kenya, Hallmark Recruitment and Peoplelink Consultants. A firm being on a list, including this one, is a starting point for your own checks, not a recommendation.
How to check a recruitment company in Kenya is licensed
Private employment agencies in Kenya are regulated under the Labour Institutions Act and the Private Employment Agencies Regulations, 2016 (Legal Notice 110). The National Employment Authority accredits agencies and publishes the requirements. Among them, an agency must be a limited company with a minimum share capital of KSh 5 million, hold county licences and tax compliance, and have at least one manager with a human resource management certificate. Agencies that recruit for jobs abroad must also lodge a KSh 1.5 million security bond.
- Ask for the registration details. A legitimate firm will give you its company name as registered and its NEA accreditation details without hesitation.
- Check the official list. Search the agency list on the NEA's NEAIMS portal, which is also where you can report a fake agency.
- Match the details. The company name on the list should match the name on the service agreement and the invoice.
- Check professional memberships. Membership of the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM) is a useful extra signal of professional standards.
- Ask how candidate data is handled. CVs and references are personal data under the Data Protection Act, 2019. The Office of the Data Protection Commissioner explains the obligations, and a professional firm should be able to tell you how it meets them.
How to compare recruitment firms in Kenya
Once you have three or four accredited firms, compare them on the things that actually change the outcome of a hire. Our longer guide on how to choose a recruitment agency goes deeper; these are the essentials.
- Fit for the role. Ask what similar roles the firm has filled recently, in your sector and at your level. A firm that is strong in volume hiring may not be the right one for a finance director.
- How they find people. Advertising alone reaches active job seekers. For hard-to-fill roles you want a firm that also searches its network and approaches people directly.
- Screening. Ask what each candidate goes through before you see them: structured interviews, skills tests, certificate checks and reference checks.
- Written terms. The fee, payment stages, timeline and any replacement terms should be in a signed agreement before work starts.
- Employment law. The firm should understand the Employment Act, 2007 well enough to help you make a lawful offer, with a compliant employment contract and the right statutory deductions from the first payslip.
- Communication. Agree who your contact is, how often you will get updates and what happens if the shortlist is not right.
Questions to ask a recruitment company before you sign
- Are you accredited by the National Employment Authority, and under what company name?
- Which roles like this one have you filled in the last year?
- Where will you look for candidates, beyond job adverts?
- What checks does every shortlisted candidate go through?
- What is your fee, when is it payable and what does it include?
- What happens if the person leaves in the first months?
- How do you store and share candidate personal data?
- Can I speak to two or three recent clients?
Good recruitment firms in Kenya answer these clearly and in writing. If answers stay vague, that tells you something about how the search will go.
Warning signs to watch for
- The firm cannot or will not give you its NEA accreditation details.
- There is no written service agreement, or the fee only appears after work has started.
- CVs arrive within hours of the brief with no sign of screening.
- Promises of a guaranteed hire in a fixed number of days, whatever the role.
- The firm is unclear about who will employ the worker in a staffing arrangement, or who pays statutory deductions.
- Candidate CVs are shared widely without consent.
Where Lynn HR fits among recruitment companies in Kenya
Lynn HR is a smaller, hands-on recruitment company in Kenya. You deal directly with the people running your search, from the first call to the signed contract. We work for employers of all sizes, from businesses making their first hire to organisations replacing a director, in sectors from banking and SACCOs to NGOs, manufacturing, logistics and technology.
Every search follows the same five steps: a consultation about the role and salary range, a written role brief, search and screening, a shortlist with interviews you attend, and the offer with a compliant contract. Because we also provide HR services and payroll outsourcing, we can keep supporting the hire after the first day if you want us to.
If you are an international company, our remote hiring service sources Kenyan talent for employers abroad. To talk about a role, see our recruitment services in Nairobi or message us on WhatsApp.
FAQs about recruitment companies in Kenya
What are the top recruitment companies in Kenya?
Names that appear on most 2026 lists include Corporate Staffing Services, Summit Recruitment & Search, Flexi Personnel, Manpower Services Group, Career Options Africa and Q-Sourcing Servtec, alongside smaller specialist firms such as Lynn HR Solutions. The right one for you depends on the role: executive search firms suit senior hires, staffing firms suit contract and temporary roles, and generalist agencies suit most permanent hiring.
How do I know if a recruitment company in Kenya is legitimate?
Check that it is accredited as a private employment agency with the National Employment Authority (NEA). The NEA publishes a list of accredited agencies and runs the NEAIMS system, which also lets you report a fake agency. Ask for the company's registration details, a written service agreement and references from recent clients.
What is the difference between a recruitment company and a recruitment agency?
In Kenya the terms are used for the same kind of business: a firm that finds, screens and shortlists candidates for an employer. "Recruitment firm" and "staffing company" are also used. What matters more is the service model: permanent recruitment, executive search, contract staffing or recruitment process outsourcing (RPO).
How do recruitment companies in Kenya charge employers?
Common models are a success fee when a permanent hire starts, a retained fee paid in stages for executive search, and a monthly rate per worker for contract or outsourced staff. Rates vary by firm, role and seniority, so ask for the fee, what it covers and any replacement terms in writing before the search begins.
Do I need a recruitment company or a job board?
A job board such as BrighterMonday, MyJobMag or Fuzu gives you applicants, but you do the screening, testing, interviewing and referencing yourself. A recruitment company does that work for you and brings you a shortlist. Many employers use job boards for high-volume junior roles and a recruitment firm for roles that are hard to fill or senior.
Does Lynn HR recruit outside Nairobi?
Yes. Lynn HR is based at The Mirage in Westlands, Nairobi, and recruits for employers across Kenya, including roles based in the counties. We also source Kenyan talent for international employers hiring remotely.
