Hire Cleaning Staff in Kenya
Office, residential and post-construction cleaners supplied to businesses, property managers and contractors in Nairobi and across Kenya.
Need cleaning staff in Kenya for an office, an apartment block or a building that has just been handed over by the contractor? Lynn HR supplies office cleaners, residential cleaners and post-construction cleaners to businesses, property managers, cleaning companies and developers.
Some clients need a single crew for a deep clean before an opening. Others need reliable relief cleaners while their own staff are on leave, or extra hands when a cleaning company wins a new contract. We size the team to the job and the timeline.
Cleaning is one of the roles covered by our casual workers service. We can recruit cleaners for you to engage directly, or employ them through staff outsourcing and handle their pay and statutory deductions.
Need cleaning staff in Kenya for a contract or a one-off job? Contact Lynn HR with your requirements to discuss availability and request a quotation.
Cleaning Staff in Kenya We Supply
Each type of cleaning work calls for different skills, equipment and levels of trust, so we brief and screen for the setting you describe.
Office cleaners
Office cleaners keep workstations, washrooms, kitchens, meeting rooms and reception areas clean, empty bins, restock consumables and report faults. Many work early mornings or after hours, so we confirm availability for your schedule and screen carefully for honesty, as office cleaners work around laptops, documents and personal items.
Residential cleaners
Residential cleaners serve apartment blocks, gated communities, serviced apartments and short-stay units: common areas, stairwells, lifts, parking and unit turnarounds between guests. For work inside occupied homes, we agree with you how keys, access and supervision will be handled.
Post-construction cleaners
Post-construction cleaners remove cement splashes, paint drips, dust and debris before handover or occupation. The work includes window and frame cleaning, floor scrubbing, sanitary ware and fittings, and clearing rubble left by the trades. It is heavier and dustier than routine cleaning, so we look for people who have done it before.
- Window and glass cleaning at safe heights
- Floor scrubbing and polishing
- Carpet and upholstery cleaning
- Washroom deep cleans
- Waste sorting and removal
- Kitchen degreasing
How We Screen and Supply Cleaners
With cleaning staff in Kenya, trust and consistency count as much as skill. Our process reflects that.
Define the scope
We confirm the site type, areas to be cleaned, shift times, frequency and the standard you expect, ideally with a simple checklist.
Source and screen
We look for cleaning experience in a similar setting, verify national ID and age, and take references from previous supervisors.
Integrity checks
For offices, homes and high-security buildings, we check ID and references carefully before cleaners start.
Chemical and equipment awareness
We check that cleaners understand dilution, labels and the equipment you use, from mops and buckets to scrubbing machines.
Supply and introduce
We share the team list and a named contact, and coordinate reporting time, access cards and uniforms with your facilities team.
Follow up
We check in after the first shifts, act on feedback, and agree how absences and replacements are handled.

Key facts: hiring cleaning staff in Kenya
- Casual employee: The Employment Act defines a casual employee as someone paid at the end of each day and engaged for no more than 24 hours at a time.
- Regular rosters: A cleaner on a continuous roster for the equivalent of a month is treated as monthly-paid under section 37.
- Written contracts: A contract for three months or more, or for work that cannot reasonably be finished within three months, must be in writing.
- Cleanliness duty: OSHA requires every workplace to be kept clean, with dirt and refuse removed daily from floors, staircases and passages.
- Gloves and masks: Protective items supplied for cleaning under OSHA must be free to the cleaner.
- Rest day: Every employee is entitled to at least one rest day in every period of seven days.
Safety and Labour Rules for Cleaning Staff in Kenya
Cleaning looks simple, but it has real hazards: chemicals, wet floors, ladders and, on post-construction jobs, dust, sharp debris and unfinished edges. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the occupier of a workplace must make sure substances are used, handled and stored safely and must give workers the information and training they need. Gloves, masks, aprons and non-slip shoes provided under the Act cannot be deducted from wages.
Post-construction cleaners often work while the site is still active. Agree with the contractor who is responsible for site induction and access, and keep cleaners away from areas where trades are still working at height. The Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services handles workplace registration, inspections and accident reporting.
On the labour side, the Employment Act, 2007 treats a casual employee as someone paid at the end of each day. Cleaners kept on a regular weekly roster for weeks at a time are no longer casual in practice, and section 37 converts long continuous casual work to monthly terms. For ongoing cleaning, a written contract is the safer choice; our employment contract service can help.
Where We Supply Cleaners
We supply cleaners to corporate offices and co-working spaces, banks and SACCOs, schools and colleges, clinics and pharmacies, hotels and serviced apartments, residential estates, shopping centres, new commercial buildings and homes ready for handover.
Most requests come from Nairobi, including Westlands, Upper Hill, Kilimani, Karen, Lavington, Runda and the Mombasa Road business parks. We also discuss jobs in Kiambu, Machakos and Kajiado counties and beyond; share the location so we can confirm availability.
Planning a Cleaning Team
A clear brief helps you get the right people and a fair quotation. Before requesting cleaners, think about:
- Floor area and number of washrooms
- Daily, weekly or one-off cleaning
- Shift times and access arrangements
- Who supplies chemicals and equipment
- Any specialist tasks, such as windows at height
- Supervision on site
For a post-construction clean, walk the site with the contractor first and agree what counts as "clean" at handover. If your project also needs labour on site, see our construction workers page.
FAQs About Hiring Cleaning Staff in Kenya
Can you supply cleaners for a one-off deep clean?
Yes. Tell us the site, the areas to be cleaned and the date, and we will propose a team size and timeline.
Do your cleaning staff in Kenya bring their own equipment?
Usually the site or the cleaning company supplies chemicals and equipment. If you need us to arrange them, we include that in the quotation.
Can I get the same cleaners every week?
Yes, and for regular work we recommend it. Ongoing weekly work is better covered by a written contract or staff outsourcing than by daily casual terms.
Do you supply cleaners for homes?
We can discuss residential cleaning, including estates and serviced apartments. For work inside occupied homes, we agree access and supervision with you first.
Are your cleaners vetted?
We verify ID and age and take references before the cleaner starts.
How much does it cost to hire cleaners?
It depends on the number of cleaners, hours, location, specialist tasks and whether we also employ them. Share your scope for a quotation.
